Salama! Inona nu vaovao?! (Hello! What's new?!)

Welcome to our website for the South East Florida Diocese mission trip to Madagascar. Our group of 13 departed from Miami September 16, 2010 for a 10 day visit with Rev. Patsy and Bishop Todd McGegregor in Toliara Madagascar. Email Rick if you would like to photos or stories to this website. Our trip has been completed but we will continue to post stories describing in detail what we experienced and advice we would like to pass on to future mission teams going to Madagascar. We will also be posting more photos and maps to help catalog the sites we visited.

Don't miss the September 2010 issue of National Geographic. It contains an article on "The Pierced Heart of Madagascar". The rosewood trees of Madagascar are being taken by timber barons and there is little the current government can do about it. The article discusses the traditions of the Malagasy and gives a glimmer of hope on how environmentalists are combating this situation.

This site is for members of our mission team, their families and anyone interested in volunteering to help the Episcopal Diocese of Madagascar. Bishop Todd McGregor and his wife Rev. Patsy will be ourhosted our group for 10 days while were in Madagascar. Our plans included to provide a 2-day vacation bible school, teach English, provide a medical and eyeglass clinic, investigate solutions to provide clean drinking water, and deliver solar ovens. We accomplished all of this and more. We also explored the outlying villages and sites where Tod and Patsy have established Episcopal communities, a site where they plan to build a hotel & spa and we visited Isalo National Park.

We will gladly accept donations of any size and see that the money is directly given to support the McGregor's work. On our trip we distributed medicine, 300 pairs of reading glasses, soccer balls and other supplies desperately needed by the people of Toliara. Click on the link below and select the option for OTHER donation and enter Madagascar Mission Team. Thank you and Derao ny TOMPO! (Praise the LORD!)
