Salama! Inona no vaovao?! (Hello! What's new?!)
(phonetic: salam! ee-noon new vow-vow
Welcome to the our website for South East Florida Diocese mission trip to Madagascar. Our group of 14 will depart from Miami September 16, 2010. We just finished our second meeting which took place 8/13-14 at the Duncan Center in Delray Beach, FL. We had a chance to meet, get to know each other and begin to make plans for what we feel we are being called to do on this trip. Our very ambitious project plans include: conducting a Medical Mission, distributing eyeglasses, vacation bible school, banner making, lite construction, baking with solar ovens, and focusing on the water and environmental issues. That's a big list. Knowing that we will face several challenges and unexpected hurdles we are prepared to be flexible. The remaining time will be spent collecting donated items, finalizing our plans and buying supplies for each of the project. Everyone on the team will be busy from now until we leave. Our next meeting will be (Sat) Sept. 4th, 9:00AM at St. James in Hollywood, 3329 Wilson St. Hollywood, FL.
The links on this site contain information for members of our mission team, their families and anyone interested in following along with us on our journey as we set out to visit the Episcopal Diocese of Madagascar. Bishop Todd McGregor and his wife Rev. Patsy will be our hosts for 12 days while we are in Madagascar. Our plans also include exploring the local sites and visiting some of the neighboring villages where Tod and Patsy have established Episcopal communities.
We gladly accept donations towards this mission trip. 100% of the donated funds will be spent on supplies and direct support towards the people of Tulear, Madagascar. Select the option for OTHER donation and enter Madagascar Mission Team. Thank you and Derao ny TOMPO! (Praise the LORD!)
